  Burrless Slitting
Casting slabs as wide as possible and then slitting them to predetermined widths is cost effective for steel mills. Before these slit pieces can be sent to the rolling mill the burrs have to be removed. But Burr removal is time consuming and expensive.

At Indiana Flame Service we have revolutionized the process of slitting and burr removal, saving steel companies millions of dollars. The slitting and deburring are done at the same time so no other processes are needed before going to the rolling mill

Whatever your volume, Indiana Flame Services can engineer and build one or multiple slitters for your needs. We’ll look at your volume and the kind of slitting needed. Each machine is site specific. Whether your application requires a single machine or ten, slitting can be monitored and controlled by one or two operators.

We use the same torch and deburring technology for slitting as with slab cutting. The major difference is with slab cutting the table is raised to a vertical position before the slab is cut. Slitting takes place on a stationary table constructed on an elevated bed. The elevated bed allows small loaders access to remove metallics left over from the slitting process.

Our burrless slitting technology is less labor intensive offering significant savings while providing greater accuracy with improved yield and a burrless cut which eliminates all secondary processes.

The burrless slitting machines offer many distinct and unique advantages:
Each Slab is cut at a rate of 9-inches per minute.
One operator per shift can operate up to ten machines.
Environmentally friendly and safer working conditions for the operator.
Energy consumption is reduced
PLC and computer controlled cuts accurate to 1/16th inch
Kerf width reduced to improve yield
Productivity monitoring
